Weekly Game Prototype 1: Ambidexterity

November 1st, 2008

I’ve decided to try to make a simple game/game prototype every week.  I will be using Game Maker.  These games will demonstrate the game play and should hopefully be fun, but they won’t be fully fleshed out as far as graphics or art are concerned.

This week I made a game called Ambidexterity.

Download

(As the game is an .EXE file, it will only work on windows)

This is a prototype of a game concept I came up with.  I may make a more fleshed-out version of this game in the future.

Instructions:
—————————–
You play as a green character and a blue character.  Blue’s movement is controlled with WASD and Green’s is controlled with the arrow keys.
A fireball will move in between them.  It will follow one until it reaches it and then it will go towards the other.  This is your weapon.  You must hit the enemies (the red circles) with the fireball.  If one of the red spheres hits one of your characters, it’s game over.
The orange squares spawn enemies and cannot be destroyed.

Scoring:
—————————–
You get 100 points for each enemy you hit.  You get an incremental bonus for every enemy you hit with the fireball between bouncing off the characters (first is 100, second is 200, third is 300, so on…).

I hope you enjoy!
